A new beginning…

Through conversations with some of my new colleagues at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and through accessing existing online resources, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the status of digitalization at the faculty of Technology and Bionics, in the past month.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, special measures had to be undertaken in record time, as in-person lectures and workshops were not possible for most of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. I was pleased to hear about the triumphs the team achieved, which included the following highlights: the development of an online learning environment, the production of lecture casts, one-to-one support, group projects, and downloadable learning materials, among many other learning resources.

While the rapid transition from offline to online has included setbacks and disappointments, I hope to help you ‘fill in the gaps’. I would like to share, for example, how to create a pool of resources to use now and in the future, and to enable your students to access multimedia-based content that suits and supports their learning style.

I am looking forward to working with you all!

All the Best,

Naomi Mc Laughlan
