Podcast Project Completion “We empower Girls”

Year 9 pupils from the comprehensive school Gesamtschule am Forstgarten in Kleve have successfully completed the “We empower Girls” – Podcast Project.

Dr. Maryam Bolouri, research associate in the field of science communication, and I (Naomi McLaughlan, research associate for digitization in higher education), offered an initial introductory session to podcasting, followed by podcast planning and concept creation, interview techniques and marketing strategies, as well as working with the audio software Audacity and Cubabase. We utilized the audio laboratory and lecture rooms within Faculty of Technology and Bionics.

The podcast project was set up in the school as part of the “We empower girls” project, of the children and youth foundation, to motivate girls to pursue typically male career paths. In their podcast, the eight students talk about trades and STEM courses, sometimes with guests and experts, guided by the school’s social worker, Petra Bothorn.

At the final session of the project, the group listened to the finished episode. Each participant was given a Certificate of Completion.

We are pleased to announce that the first episode is now available shorty, via the Gesamtschule am Forstgarten website and their Social Media channels. Here is the link to it: https://gaf.kleve.de/schulprogramm/final-audio_wir-staerken-maedchen/
